Two suspects have been arrested in the case of hacking the Four Dragons bitcoin exchange

On May 8, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek issued a decision on the arrest of two persons suspected of involvement in the recent hacking of the Four Dragons cryptocurrency exchange. This was reported to ForkLog by sources close to the lawyers of the detainees.

According to their information, one of the defendants turned out to be a former employee of the trading platform Marat Zaripov, who was able to gain unauthorized access to hot wallets.

Sources also reported that Zaripov, who is a citizen of the Russian Federation, is suspected of theft on a particularly large scale committed by an organized group. He faces up to eight years in prison.

The suspects in court insisted on their complete innocence. However, according to the lawyers, the investigators were able to find compromising data in the Google Translate translation history, which the defendants forgot to delete.

The Four Dragons administration is limited in its ability to comment due to a non-disclosure agreement. However, representatives of the exchange confirmed the information about the arrest of their former employee and shared a teaser of the internal investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.

Recall that at the end of February, unknown persons hacked the Four Dragons cryptocurrency exchange from Kyrgyzstan, stealing an unnamed amount of USDT from the platform's hot wallet at the time of a major transaction.

Outside experts estimated the damage in the range of $841,000 to $100 million. Nevertheless, a source at the exchange said that the maximum damage estimate was overestimated.

Earlier, ForkLog talked about some details of the investigation of the incident.
