Coinbase has become the most popular brand among cryptoscamers

Cryptocurrency scammers most often imitate the Coinbase crypto exchange brand to deceive their victims. This is reported by Cointelegraph with reference to the Mailsuite report.

Over the past four years, the Coinbase brand has been used in 416 scam schemes and phishing attacks.

According to CoinMarketCap, Coinbase is the second largest centralized crypto exchange in the world with a daily trading volume of over $1.8 billion.

In the CoinGecko rating, the platform has the highest "trust" score along with Binance, Bybit and OKX.

In total, Mailsuite analysts studied 1.14 million incidents in which fraudsters posed as a well-known company or organization more than 249,000 times.

Among traditional firms, Facebook became the most popular among scammers, it was mentioned in 10,457 registered cases of fraud. 

The IRS was involved in 9762 incidents, and Apple in 9110. This is followed by Amazon (8919), Steam (4833) and Microsoft (4518).

Earlier, SlowMist experts reported that the TON ecosystem was under a large-scale attack by phishers. According to their information, malicious links and malicious bots are distributed in Telegram groups, in particular under the guise of airdrop announcements. 

Recall that the Ethereum Foundation warned about the compromise of the SendPulse email mailing service, as a result of which phishing emails began to arrive to users.
