Deutsche Telekom intends to mine Bitcoin
The German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom has announced that it plans to mine bitcoin through its subsidiary T-Systems MMS.

Dirk Reder, director of T-Systems MMS, said at the BTC Prague 2024 conference that the company is now preparing the appropriate infrastructure for mining the first cryptocurrency, and, as necessary, will attract additional financial resources for the purchase of mining equipment.

Raeder stressed that Deutsche Telekom has now completely changed its position in relation to the Web3 industry and digital assets, although back in 2022 the term "bitcoin" was forbidden to be mentioned in business negotiations and consultations.

In 2023, Deutsche Telekom became a validator in the Polygon blockchain ecosystem, and in the winter of 2024 it signed a partnership agreement with the organization Fetch.ai Foundation. Since 2023, T-Systems MMS has been managing nodes for several networks, including the Lightning Network, Polkadot and Celo.

Earlier, the international non-governmental environmental organization Greenpeace stated that large financial institutions should be responsible for financing the bitcoin mining industry and environmental pollution.
