Donald Trump raised $25 million in donations at the bitcoin conference

Former US President Donald Trump collected $25 million in campaign donations during the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville. This was announced by its organizer and CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, David Bailey.

For those of you who didn’t hear it in Trump’s speech, DJT raised $25m in Nashville. His second highest fundraiser ever across three different presidential campaigns. Came from a combo of industry and whales/OGs.

During his speech at the event, Trump promised to put an end to the authorities' war on cryptocurrencies if he was elected president. He expressed support for mining and the stablecoin segment. The politician repeated promises to commute the sentence of the founder of the Silk Road darknet market, Ross Ulbricht, and release him, as well as prevent the creation of a CBDC.

According to The Block, a seat at a round table with Trump organized on Saturday cost $844,600, and a photo cost at least $60,000. Among the participants of the event were Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, blogger Jake Paul, musicians Kid Rock and Billy Ray Cyrus, Fox journalist Eleanor Terrett said.

According to the publication, the revenue of the Trump campaign fund at the end of the conference amounted to $ 21 million — the total amount included $ 4 million raised in cryptocurrencies earlier.

In June, the Winklevoss brothers contributed $2 million in bitcoins to the campaign of the Republican candidate. Kraken exchange co-founder Jess Powell donated $1 million "mostly to ETH." Some of the amounts were refunded to them due to exceeding the limit of $844,600.

Earlier, Bloomberg noted the hopes of crypto companies for the election of Trump. However, one user noted that during his presidency in 2017-2020, there were attempts to ban digital assets, and the head of state himself criticized cryptocurrencies. On the contrary, under the Joe Biden administration, spot ETFs based on bitcoin and Ethereum were allowed, as well as the prosecution of a number of projects for violations of securities legislation was stopped.

"Cryptan amnesia is a side effect of Trump loyalty syndrome," the commentator concluded.

Recall that after Biden's exit from the election race, his potential replacement was US Vice President Kamala Harris, who is likely to be "much more open" to cryptocurrencies, according to billionaire Mark Cuban.
