According to them, in addition to the news about payments to Mt.Gox users and sales of the first cryptocurrency by the governments of Germany and the United States, the actions of bitcoin whales aggravated the decline of the asset.

On July 3, digital gold failed the $61,000 level. The next day, bitcoin fell below $57,000. On July 5, the first cryptocurrency collapsed to $54,000. However, the asset recovered above $56,000 the next day.

At the time of writing, bitcoin is trading at $57,300.

Earlier, Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey accused the US government of embezzling bitcoins. According to him, the stock of the country's first cryptocurrency was supposed to exceed 400,000 BTC, but instead the Democrats sold a significant part of the assets at an undervalued price.

Bailey said that the US government at an unspecified time sold "187,078 BTC worth $12.5 billion for a paltry $282 million."

Bundestag member Joana Kotar criticized the German authorities for selling bitcoin and called such actions counterproductive. She called on Chancellor Olaf Scholz to rethink the position.

According to analysts at Lookonchain, since June 19, the governments of the United States and Germany, as well as Mt.Gox, have transferred a total of 17,788 BTC worth about $1.08 billion.

Since June 19, the #German Government, the #US Government, and #MtGox have transferred a total of 17,788 $BTC($1.08B).

In particular, the #German Government has transferred $BTC every day since July 1.

They hold 396,210 $BTC($22.78B) currently.

There are 396,210 BTC (~$21.78 billion) remaining in their accounts, which are distributed as follows:

213,297 BTC (~$11.72 billion) — US Government;141,687 BTC (~$7.78 billion) — Mt.Gox;41,226 BTC (~$2.28 billion) — the German government.

Recall that some experts have allowed bitcoin to collapse to $50,000. In their opinion, the sharp drop in the asset will not be limited to the current level due to the change in sentiment.

At the same time, Standard Chartered analysts predicted a new historical maximum for the price of the first cryptocurrency in August and a subsequent increase to $ 100,000 by the US presidential election in November.
