Jack Dorsey has left the board of directors of the Bluesky project

Jack Dorsey resigned from the board of directors of the Bluesky platform, a decentralized alternative to the social network X.

With Jack’s departure, we are searching for a new board member for the Bluesky public benefit company who shares our commitment to building a social network that puts people in control of their experience. More to come!

Bluesky confirmed Dorsey's departure, thanking him for his help in launching and financing the project. Representatives of the platform have started searching for a new member of the board of directors.

Dorsey did not explain the reason for his decision.

According to Bluesky statistics, 5.6 million people are registered on the platform.

According to the tracker Big Tech Alert, Dorsey has reduced the list of his subscribers to three people: Elon Musk, former NSA and CIA employee Edward Snowden and Stella Assange, the wife of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Dorsey first announced the project of a decentralized social media platform in 2019. In February 2022, the Bluesky PBLLC organization appeared.

In April, after the decision of the Twitter management to sell the social network to Elon Musk, Bluesky recalled his independence.

Recall that in July 2023, the Dorsey project raised $8 million in a seed round of financing.
