The second version "completely redesigned hardware and software", achieved technical achievements in the field of AI, computer vision, batteries, electronics, sensors and actuators, the company claims.

The robot is equipped with:

speakers and microphones to talk to people and listen to them;an AI-based vision system and six built-in RGB cameras;with the hands of the fourth generation with 16 degrees of freedom and strength equivalent to a human;a 50% reinforced battery pack;three times improved central and graphics processors.

Figure 02 visited the BMW plant in Spartanburg for training and data collection. In January, the companies entered into a commercial agreement, and in June, the developer of the robot showed its effectiveness at the automaker's enterprise.

In February, the startup raised $675 million with an estimated $2 billion from OpenAI, Microsoft, Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, Intel and other investors.

In March, the company demonstrated the first result of cooperation with OpenAI — the bot learned how to communicate in real time using ChatGPT.

Figure's competitor, Tesla, introduced a humanoid robot in 2021. In December 2023, the company showed the Optimus Gen 1 model, which can walk forward, calibrate body parts and move them in 11 axes, as well as take different poses.

Recall that Elon Musk announced in June that Optimus would bring Tesla's capitalization to $25 trillion, and the launch of limited production of humanoid robots would start in 2025.
