French AI startup Kyutai has introduced the Moshi voice assistant

The Kyutai non-profit organization introduced the Moshi voice assistant at an event in Paris.

The developers stated that their system speaks using 70 different emotions and styles, gives advice on climbing Mount Everest and reads its own poem.

"She thinks the same as she says. We believe that Moshi has great potential to change the way we communicate with and through machines," said Patrick Perez, CEO of the organization.

He added that the team will publish the underlying AI assistant models, research and code.

Kyutai launched in November 2023 with €300 million in funding, including from French billionaires Xavier Niel, Rodolphe Saade and former Google chairman Eric Schmidt.

Niel noted that Moshi reflects Europe's potential to become a global player in AI development.

"All the products presented today are the best in their class all over the world. We are very happy that this is happening in Europe," he said.

In May, OpenAI announced a "more human" version of ChatGPT with voice interaction.

In June, Paris-based AI startup Mistral AI raised €600 million.

Recall that in June, the venture capital firm Accel reported that French startups are leaders in attracting investments in Europe.
