The Lugano Investment Fund will distribute $100 million to cryptocurrency startups
The authorities of the Swiss city of Lugano have created an investment pool for startups worth more than 100 million Swiss francs ($110.5 million). The Mayor's office is confident that the project will attract investments to the city.

Local companies will receive assistance with the integration of payments in bitcoins, USDT and LVGA tokens from the 3M CHF investment fund. The foundation has promised to distribute more than 500 grants to college students so that they can prepare for the start of a career in the field of blockchain technology.

The project became part of a local initiative to integrate bitcoin into the financial infrastructure of Lugano and apply blockchain in business projects. The city authorities, in cooperation with the American company Tether, which produces USDT stablecoins, launched the educational project Plan Biz School. More than 300 experts and blockchain enthusiasts are going to hold seminars: how to use blockchain to improve the activities of enterprises, how retailers can accept transactions in cryptocurrencies and pay taxes with bitcoin.

The civil services of Lugano legalized payments to the VTC, USDT and LVGA back in 2022. Now these crypto assets are accepted in more than 150 retail outlets and enterprises. In December, the municipality of Lugano launched a system for paying taxes and municipal services with bitcoins and USDT using the Swiss crypto platform Bitcoin Suisse.

In 2022, a "bitcoin office" of El Salvador appeared in Lugano, a country that was one of the first in the world to legalize payments in bitcoins.
