The DMM Bitcoin crypto exchange was hacked for $305 million

Unknown persons hacked the Japanese cryptocurrency exchange DMM Bitcoin and withdrew 4502.9 BTC (~$305 million at the time of writing). He writes about it CoinDesk.

Representatives of the platform confirmed the attack and stated that they had taken measures to avoid further unauthorized outflows. Customers are compensated for losses in full.

The exchange imposed restrictions and warned that the withdrawal of yen "may take longer than usual." Details of the hack were not disclosed.

In 2018, hackers broke into another Japanese trading platform, Coincheck. They managed to steal the NEM cryptocurrency worth more than $500 million (at the exchange rate at that time). A few months after the incident, the exchange became the property of the online broker Monex.

Recall that in April 2024, the FixedFloat crypto exchange was attacked for the second time since the beginning of the year. Experts have determined the amount of damage — at least $ 2.8 million.
