The Mayor of Moscow and the Bank of Russia intend to introduce payment for transportation in digital rubles
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Olga Skorobogatova signed an agreement on the introduction of payment for metropolitan transport services in digital rubles during the SPIEF.

The mayor's press service clarified that after the mass launch of the national digital currency of the Bank of Russia, residents of the capital will be able to pay in digital rubles not only for travel, but also for other transport services. For example, it will be possible to pay for parking in Moscow.

In addition, it is planned to sign the first smart contract in Russia for insurance of rolling stock of urban transport in digital rubles. According to the Moscow city administration, this will allow automating contractual procedures and ensuring control over the fulfillment of obligations.

Recall that since August 2023, SUE Moscow Metro and PJSC VTB Bank have been jointly testing payment for metro services in digital rubles. A special digital account was opened on the Bank of Russia platform to conduct financial transactions and control the passage of payments.
