NEAR implemented multi-chain transactions from one account

CEO NEAR Foundation Ilya Polosukhin presented Chain Signatures. The solution allows you to access multiple networks through an account on the NEAR blockchain.

One small step for man.

One giant leap for Chain Abstraction.< br>
Chain Signatures, secured by EigenLayer and NEAR stakeholders, enable transactions on any blockchain from your NEAR account.

The function is implemented using a decentralized multiparty computing protocol, security is ensured by the technologies of the EigenLayer re-staking protocol.

NEAR users now have the ability to sign transactions on multiple networks, including:

bitcoin;Ethereum;Cosmos ecosystem chains;Dogecoin;XRP Ledger.

The developers announced the addition of “soon” support for Solana, TON Network, Polkadot and others.

“Chain Signatures' first-of-its-kind technology represents a significant step forward in DeFi adoption, improving cross-chain interoperability and opening up new use cases for everyday users and Web3 developers,” the statement said.

The Multichain Gas Relayer solution, launched in parallel, eliminates the need to have tokens for gas payments on other blockchains. NEAR or other NEP-141 standard coins are used for this, including for chains that are not compatible with EVM.

The NEAR Foundation noted that the tools actually implement cross-chain interaction without the presence of a cross-chain bridge. The options have already been used by a number of projects such as the DeFi application SWEAT Economic, the L2 protocol East Blue and the NFT platform Mintbase.

Recall that in January the NEAR Foundation announced the layoff of approximately 40% of its staff.
