Nvidia has announced a new chip architecture for training artificial intelligence models called Rubin. This is reported by CNBC.
The announcement came two and a half months after the presentation of the previous generation of Blackwell AI processors. This chip is still in production and will only go on sale by the end of 2024.
Journalists suggested that the accelerated pace of development of new technologies in the industry indicates increased competition and Nvidia's desire to maintain its dominant position.
The company's CEO, Jensen Huang, said that the company plans to produce new models of AI chips "on an annual basis." Before that, the tech giant produced one chip every two years.
"Today we are on the verge of a major shift in computing. With our innovations in artificial intelligence and accelerated computing, we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible and launching the next wave of technological progress," Huang added.
Rubin will consist of a new GPU and a central board called Vera. Detailed details about the "stuffing" have not yet been reported.
After the release of information about the AI chip, Nvidia shares rose by 3.7% to $1,139.
