— OpenAI (@OpenAI) July 10, 2024A recent White House executive order instructed national laboratories to evaluate the capabilities of advanced AI models. OpenAI noted that artificial intelligence can greatly enhance the development of science.
As part of the initiative, experts will explore the possibilities of using GPT-4o to perform tasks in a physical laboratory environment using multimodal capabilities such as vision and voice.
He noted that a new specialized group will lead the work in Los Alamos, which will help to understand and assess the risks of AI.
Los Alamos National Laboratory was founded in 1943 as part of the Manhattan project to develop nuclear weapons led by physicist Robert Oppenheimer.
The organization is currently engaged in a wide range of scientific research, including physics, chemistry, biology, materials science and national security.
Earlier, the media learned about the hacking of OpenAI and the theft of information about the company's latest technologies.
Recall that a new artificial intelligence model was able to detect 13 different types of cancer with an accuracy of 98.2%.
In July, Ilya Polosukhin, co-founder of Near Protocol, said that AI would not destroy humanity if it was not given such an order.
