The survey revealed the "limited" popularity of Hamster Kombat in the Russian Federation

Over half of Russians (57%) are unaware of the existence of the Hamster Kombat clicker game based on Telegram. This is evidenced by the results of a telephone survey conducted by VTSIOM among 1,600 adult citizens.

According to the collected data, 42% of respondents have heard of the "hamster", of which 14% understand the essence of the "tapalka".

The most informed were zoomers (86%) and younger millennials (72%), Telegram users (62%), residents of cities with millions (50%), as well as active Internet users (62%).

"The popularity of Hamster Kombat is local and limited to the most technologically advanced, young and digitalized users. Nationwide, his fame is still rather limited," VTsIOM noted.

For the first time, 62% of women and 52% of men, 78% of older Russians, 65% of villagers and 81% of those who prefer television heard about Hamster Kombat during the study.

8% of those who are aware of the game reported that they are trying to earn cryptocurrency with its help. The majority of this category were zoomers (12%), citizens with incomplete secondary education (16%) and residents of large cities (15%).

16% of respondents believe in the possibility of turning "gaming" money into real money. 67% do not regard Hamster Kombat as a way of earning money.

In general, 87% of the total number of respondents have heard about cryptocurrencies in the Russian Federation. Zoomers are the most knowledgeable about cryptocurrency — 96%, including 35% of them, according to their own estimates, are well versed in the topic.

Kaspersky Lab experts, in turn, warned about a scheme to steal Telegram accounts under the guise of a service for cashing in-game Hamster Kombat coins.

Victims are promised payments in rubles within 15 minutes after successful authorization via the link. It leads to a phishing page through which attackers steal access to the messenger.

Previously, ForkLog also reported on fraudulent campaigns targeting Hamster Kombat players.

Recall that last week, the developers of the clicker talked about the genesis of the game and announced the holding of the second airdrop.

Hamster Kombat has already been supported by Telegram founder Pavel Durov, announcing the release of its HMSTR token on the TON blockchain. Bybit exchange has opened a coin premarket.
