On April 11, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Irkutsk handed down a guilty verdict to five residents of the Chelyabinsk region who, through the Greenstar Mining company, engaged in the fictitious sale of equipment for mining cryptocurrencies.
According to the case file, since 2021, the defendants have been advertising their services on the Internet, offering the supply of miners at a 50 percent prepayment. They also reported on the possibility of placing the devices available to customers on the basis of their \"mining hostel\".
In reality, the founders of Greenstar Mining took the money and equipment for themselves.
During the period of their criminal activity, they deceived 68 people. The total damage exceeded 12 million rubles.
The defendants were sentenced to imprisonment for terms from 3 years, 8 months to 4 years in a general regime colony. The victims should receive a refund of the stolen funds.
The verdict has not entered into force.
Earlier, ForkLog reported that in Novosibirsk, power engineers together with the police stopped mining farms for 3,225 devices.
