Companies are striving to integrate AI into their operations and are looking for candidates with the necessary skills, offering high salaries and other benefits. This was stated by Nancy Xu, co-founder and CEO of Moonhub recruitment company, in a conversation with Business Insider.
Aswini Tota, director of data science at the USAA financial company, named the criteria by which experts in the field of artificial intelligence are evaluated.
Technical knowledge
Data scientists should be well versed in Python and R, the most popular programming languages for creating artificial intelligence models. Some companies use C++ and Java.
It is also desirable to have basic knowledge in statistics, algorithms and machine learning frameworks in Python and R.
"The vast majority of organizations rely on cloud technologies for storage, analysis and model creation, so practical knowledge for working with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, Databricks and other similar platforms has recently become more important," said Tota.
Business acumen and sociability
According to him, potential employees should have strong business acumen, be able to quickly understand the problem of the organization and find a solution. Communication skills will help you quickly explain the results of your work to decision makers.
Innovations
According to Tota, candidates with innovation management potential are being sought for senior positions.
"Hiring employees with an innovative mindset helps us anticipate and solve potential problems before they become problems, as well as develop innovative solutions," he said.
Other skills
Ram Srinivasan, Head of the recruitment department at JLL consulting firm, noted that working with AI requires flexibility — the ability to quickly master new technologies and methods. It is also important to collaborate with various teams like data scientists, managers, and developers.
Employees should identify potential applications of artificial intelligence in various industries.
Major opportunities for technical specialists
Srinivasan noted that large technology companies like Google, Microsoft, OpenAI and Meta are competing to attract employees with the skills to develop AI. This creates a "promising landscape for technical specialists."
"Artificial intelligence talents are in high demand, and companies are offering impressive rewards. Some experts have received offers of more than $1 million [...]. This competitive market promotes higher salaries and provides attractive financial incentives for technical workers," he concluded.
Earlier, Meta published a vacancy for a specialist in the metaverse division for integrating AI into VR and AR games.
Recall that in July, major technology companies warned about the risks of artificial intelligence for their business.
