An autonomous robot with artificial intelligence has performed a full-fledged dental procedure for the first time. This is reported by New Atlas.
The Boston-based Perceptive company uses a hand-held 3D scanner to create a detailed model of a patient's mouth, taking into account teeth, gums, and nerves. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is used for this purpose.

Based on the data, the doctor and the patient make a decision about treatment. Next, the robot plans and executes the operation.
The first specialization of the machine is the preparation of the tooth for the installation of the crown. A human performs this procedure in about two hours, a robot needs 15 minutes. He can safely carry out the operation "even in the most difficult traffic conditions." All trial tests on moving people were successful.
