Samsung will improve Bixby voice assistant with AI

In 2024, Samsung will release an updated version of the Bixby voice assistant. She will work on the basis of the company's large language model, said the head of the mobile business, Tae Moon Ro, in a conversation with CNBC.

"We are going to improve Bixby by applying generative artificial intelligence technology," said the president and head of the Mobile eXperience division at Samsung Electronics.

Bixby is a virtual assistant launched in 2017 along with the Galaxy S8 smartphone. It has different functions like translation and restaurant recommendations. Using the Bixby Vision tool, you can point your smartphone camera at any object and find out information about it.

Samsung will maintain its strategy of allowing multiple voice assistants to be used on the company's devices.

The Bixby update is part of the corporation's larger push into the AI market. On July 10, it released new gadgets with support for artificial intelligence-based functions. Google's Gemini app is integrated into the new Galaxy Z smartphone series, providing users with a personal assistant based on artificial intelligence.

"We are strengthening and integrating more artificial intelligence into our products. As consumers use AI capabilities more often, they can feel the convenience and benefits of neural networks. I firmly believe that mobile AI is a strong motivation to buy new products," Ro said.

Earlier, Apple announced the integration of ChatGPT and the launch of a large-scale AI initiative Apple Intelligence.

Recall that in June, Samsung unveiled a number of upcoming improvements in manufacturing technologies aimed at attracting the creators of AI chips.
