Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Joni Ive, former head of Apple's design department, plan to create a gadget like a smartphone equipped with AI. This is reported by the publication The Information, citing sources.
According to them, they intend to receive investments of $ 1 billion for the new project, including from potential sponsors in the person of Thrive Capital and Emerson Collective.
According to insiders, the device will provide users with an intuitive way to use neural networks in everyday life.
The publication notes that Altman is known for his interest in screenless interaction with AI. He is expected to share his experience and knowledge, potentially incorporating similar principles into the project.
Joni Ive was responsible for the appearance of many famous Apple gadgets, including the iPhone. After leaving the company, he created the LoveForm company, which develops designs for devices of various companies.
The partners also held talks with SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, according to media reports. They are supposedly thinking about the concept of creating a new company that combines the skills and technologies of their organizations.
The expected participation of the leading Arm chip developer, in which SoftBank has a significant stake, may further increase the scale and capabilities of the project.
It also became known that the head of the iPhone and watch design department at Apple, Tang Tan, who left his post in February and moved to Aiva's LoveForm, will also become a member of the team.
Although the project is still in its initial stages, sources said the team is focused on building devices specifically designed for use at home.
Recall that in January, the developers of Worldcoin announced that they would make the orbs look like an Apple product.
