Tucker Carlson confessed his love for the "CIA-created" bitcoin

American journalist Tucker Carlson respects the first cryptocurrency, but at the same time is convinced that it was created by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

During a private event within the framework of Bitcoin 2024, the former Fox News host noted that bitcoin is the "best tool in the world" to ensure financial sovereignty.

"Obviously, it was the CIA, we all know. It's like a Signal, they got there first. It's a trap!", Carlson grinned.

According to him, crypto enthusiasts are very intelligent and, apparently, can answer any questions except those concerning the personality of Satoshi Nakamoto:

"Someone has to answer. I think we know who."

However, this fact "does not make bitcoin less significant for transforming the history of technology," the journalist believes. He also noted that cryptocurrency "gives the average person the freedom to conduct their business without supervision or control [from the government]."

Nevertheless, in order to fully realize the potential of digital gold, it must first overcome the barrier of acceptance as a medium of exchange, and not just an asset to preserve value, Carlson stressed. To do this, it is necessary to convince the population to accept payments in bitcoin and make it more confidential.

"If you can find a way to solve these problems, I would liquidate [my other positions] and invest everything in bitcoin. Seriously. [The first cryptocurrency] is the key to preserving the country where I grew up," he concluded.

Bitcoin and the CIA

The theory of the involvement of American intelligence agencies in the creation of bitcoin technology is quite common, so social networks reacted violently to Carlson's statements.

The journalist's statements attracted the attention of the English conspiracy theorist David Ike.

If the CIA started Bitcoin, Tucker, and now Trump and his Silicon Valley coterie are pushing it, then do think by any chance that there might be more to know? https://t.co/U4JHoWP5ah

"If the CIA created bitcoin, and Tucker, along with Trump and his entourage in Silicon Valley, are promoting it, then do you by any chance think that there is something else that can be learned?" he noted.

The author of the book series "Bitcoin Standard" also joined the discussion, noting the transparency of the code of the first cryptocurrency:

"There is nothing in it except software that you can study yourself. It has been read by thousands of people for fifteen years."

The developer under the nickname omerskywalker drew attention to the fact that the GPS system was created by the US Department of Defense, but this does not prevent anyone from using the development.

Exactly — and GPS was created by the DoD.

That doesn’t stop anybody from utilizing the technology.

The fact that it works 10x better than alternatives and improves quality of life by reducing cognitive load makes it a no brainer.

Same with Bitcoin.

"The fact that it works 10 times better than alternatives and improves the quality of life by reducing cognitive load makes it obviously attractive. It's the same with bitcoin," he added.

Earlier, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink called digital gold a legitimate financial instrument.

Recall that in July, billionaire Mark Cuban admitted that against the background of geopolitical uncertainty and the failure of the dollar as a reserve currency, bitcoin could become a global "safe haven".
