The Winklevoss donated $1 million in Bitcoins to Elizabeth Warren's rival

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss donated 8 BTC (~$500,000) each to the election campaign of John Deaton, who is running for senator from Massachusetts.

I just donated $500k in bitcoin (8 BTC) to @DeatonforSenate to help him unseat @SenWarren as a U.S. Senator. Here’s why:

The elected position is held by Elizabeth Warren. She is known for her tough stance on digital assets.

"Elizabeth Warren is one of the greatest threats to America's prosperity. When it comes to cryptocurrency, it is public enemy number one. She is the main architect and driving force behind the [US President Joe] Biden administration's war on industry," Tyler Winklevoss said.

According to him, if "Warren represents the worst in the country, then John Deaton is the best." The entrepreneur called the founder of Deaton Law Firm a supporter of "bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and business."

A similar opinion was expressed by his brother Cameron, who confirmed the donation to the Deaton Foundation.

I also just donated $500k in bitcoin (8 BTC) to @DeatonforSenate to help him unseat @SenWarren as a U.S. Senator.

Here’s the TL;DR — John Deaton is:

Pro-Bitcoin
Pro-Crypto
Pro-Business

And he will put an end to Elizabeth Warren’s war on crypto. Onward! https://t.co/JgOF6eBTkc

"He will put an end to Warren's war on cryptocurrencies. Go ahead!", — wrote the co-founder of the Gemini exchange.

Deaton participated in the SEC's lawsuit against Ripple, representing the interests of investors in the fintech company.

In April, the lawyer filed claims against the US government regarding complicity in the illegal actions of the bankrupt FTX exchange and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried. After that, the Senate became interested in the relationship between the platform's management and the CFTC.

In June, the Winklevosses contributed $2 million in bitcoins to Donald Trump's presidential campaign. The politician has repeatedly stated his support for the crypto industry and opened the acceptance of donations in cryptocurrencies.

Recall that the co-founder of the Kraken exchange, Jess Powell, donated $ 1 million to Trump's election campaign "mainly in ETH."
