Pump.fun hacking suspect arrested in London

British police have detained an alleged hacker of the Pump meme token launch platform.fun on Solana. Blockworks writes about this.

On May 17, the team announced that an ex-employee of the company had committed an exploit with damage of $1.9 million, taking advantage of a "privileged position". Igor Igamberdiev, head of the Wintermute research department, confirmed that the incident is related to the compromise of private keys and user X under the nickname staccoverflow.

The last one turned out to be Canadian citizen Jarett Dunn, a former developer of Pump.fun.

According to a source familiar with the search, they were handled by a private detective firm hired by a third party. He also confirmed that a screenshot of Dunn's account on Binance, which was widely distributed on the Internet, is authentic.

We found that @STACCoverflow real identity was discovered in a screenshot from @bitfloorsghost after posted on May 16th, 2024.

A Blockworks source said that initially detectives localized his approximate location in London using social networks. This was followed by a "massive hunt" using local agents hired under contract.

Dunn was eventually found at the Middle Eight Hotel in Covent Garden, where he was arrested.

Subsequently, the suspect was released on bail, which he himself reported on another account in X. The information was confirmed by the detective company.

I am once again without any of my 2fa for a lil while. I spent overnight in custody as the pump team alleges I stole 2m of their Ill gotten gains with conspiracy to steal another 80m.

Dunn is expected to remain in the UK until the next court hearing in August.

Recall that in May, the US police arrested brothers Anton and James Perair-Bueno on charges of exploiting the Ethereum blockchain and stealing cryptocurrencies worth $25 million.
