In Paraguay, the heat from mining was used to dry mangoes

One of the bitcoin mining enterprises in Paraguay sent the heat generated by ASIC miners to mango drying.

There's a mining project in Paraguay that's drying mangos

Their operation eliminates 2.5 tons of carbon per MW each month from switching the drying operation away from fossil fuels to hydro power + they donate 10% of mango profits to Bitcoin core

The transfer of the process from burning fossil fuels to hydroelectric power has reduced carbon emissions by 2.5 tons per month per 1 MW consumed, said Magdalena Gronowska, an adviser to PRTI.

She added that the mining company donates 10% of the profit from the sale of fruits to Bitcoin Core developers.

"I can confirm that the mangoes were delicious," Gronowska concluded.

Bitcoin miners find a wide variety of ways to utilize the heat generated by the equipment. A bathhouse in New York, for example, used it to keep the water temperature in the pool. However, when the customers found out about it, their reaction was mixed.

In the Norwegian town of Sortland, KryptoVault has organized the drying of wood and algae using thermal energy from mining. Despite the creation of jobs, residents turned against miners because of the noise created by the data center.

Hashlabs Mining is implementing a residential heating project in Finland. The first installations are already connected to the heating networks.

Paraguay is experiencing a mining boom. Most of the activity is concentrated in the province of Alto Paraná, where the Itaipu hydroelectric power plant, the second largest in the world, is located. The enterprise provides the country's energy needs in excess.

But due to the growing damage caused by illegal bitcoin mining farms, a group of senators proposed a temporary ban on mining. After discussion in Congress, consideration of the bill was postponed and public hearings were scheduled.

Recall that if a moratorium is imposed, the Paraguayan economy may lose over $200 million in annual revenues, estimated Jaran Mellerud, co-founder of Hashlabs Mining.
