The statement concerns the international market, there is no talk of integrating large language models into smartphones for mainland China. Gemini artificial intelligence and other foreign neural networks are not available in the country, SCMP draws attention.
Another Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oppo, also uses Gemini on Android devices aimed at the international market.
In January, Samsung released new Galaxy S24 smartphones with Google's AI, later saying it was working with Baidu to integrate its large Ernie language model for the Chinese market.
In July, the company introduced foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro headphones with new AI features.
The American Apple Corporation has planned the launch of Apple Intelligence in the fall, but it will not be available in China and Europe. The company is going to cooperate with a Chinese AI supplier to integrate neural networks into smartphones sold in China, the newspaper notes.
Recall that CEO Honor called the AI capabilities "useless" without data privacy.
