Hacker who hacked Mango Markets protocol found guilty of fraud
A Manhattan jury found a Puerto Rican resident who hacked the Mango Markets protocol guilty of fraud. On July 29, the New York District Court is scheduled to issue a final verdict to the accused.

The hacking of the Mango Markets decentralized finance protocol, based on the Solana network, occurred in October 2022. Assets worth $116 million were withdrawn from the site. Law enforcement agencies linked the hacking to a certain Avraham Eisenberg, who was soon detained in Puerto Rico and extradited to the United States.

The detainee was accused of fraud using electronic means of communication. The defendant faces 20 years in prison.

Abraham Eisenberg's lawyers said that all his transactions at Mango Markets were simply successful and did not violate the law. According to the defense, the client's actions fully complied with the rules of the decentralized protocol.

"We are certainly disappointed, but we will continue to fight for our client and plan to file a number of petitions after the trial," the lawyers said.

Earlier, Indian citizen Chirag Tomar, who was arrested in the United States at the end of 2023, confessed to creating a fake Coinbase exchange website in order to steal user assets. He managed to steal $9.5 million.
