Cryptocurrency hedge fund BlockTower Capital lost an unnamed amount as a result of a hacker attack. Bloomberg learned about the incident from informed sources.
According to PitchBook, the company has assets worth $1.7 billion under management.
The attackers remain at large.
The firm hired blockchain forensic analysts to investigate.
BlockTower declined to comment on the hack.
In February 2023, the organization was already a victim of hackers. Then the losses amounted to $1.55 million in TrueFi tokens.
The company previously closed a market-neutral fund that once managed assets worth over $100 million, according to Bloomberg.
Founded in 2017, BlockTower Capital has invested in well-known cryptocurrency and Web3 firms like Dapper Labs, Sky Mavis, Aptos Labs, Maple Finance, according to Dealroom.
In October 2022, the company launched a structure with an AUM of $150 million.
Recall that a month before, the Wintermute market maker lost $160 million in assets as a result of a hacker attack.
Experts linked the incident to a vulnerability in the Ethereum address generator.
