Boring is a protocol that enables participants in virtual private networks to process transactions between node providers and bandwidth users. It supports node providers in linking their endpoints through Solana Program Library, along with attaching metadata that describes node characteristics like geolocation. In the opposite direction, bandwidth users can discover and connect to those offered nodes and then carry out transactions with the provider through the protocol. The BOP token supports multiple parts of this marketplace. To start, it gives node providers improved priority for incoming traffic based on their stake. It also enables several protective measures against attack vectors, including Sybil Attacks. Beyond that, it serves as the settlement mechanism that lets users and providers exchange bandwidth for currency via the protocol.
