Launched in 2016, Kadena operates as a Layer1 Proof-of-Work blockchain with a focus on providing high levels of scalability. It provides the necessary tools and services that allow developer teams to deploy decentralized applications on the Kadena blockchain and leverage the platform’s advantages.
KDA is Kadena’s native cryptocurrency. It has a total supply of 1,000,000,000 that is planned to be mined over a period of 120 years. KDA is used as a utility token and is used to pay for conducting transactions on the Kadena public chain. KDA is also distributed to miners who help to secure the network.
Kadena uses an innovative variation of the Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism in order to increase scalability. Kadena calls this Chainweb. The technology consists of two layers: a cross-chain layer where transfers take place via on-chain SPV (Simple Payment Verification) smart contracts all conducted within an application, and parallel-chain binding conducted at the hashing level of the blockchain. The result is an increase in the potential throughput linearly, and this, in turn, helps Kadena to achieve its desired scalability.
Another key element of the Kadena network is Pact, the protocol’s own smart contract language. Pact’s core features include being human-readable and being able to automatically detect bugs. Additionally, Formal Verification allows developers to test their contracts to make sure they function as intended. Code can also be replicated from other applications and changed to suit different needs.
In this manner, the Kadena network can be used to build a variety of applications suited to many different use cases. This includes across the gaming, finance, metaverse, and DeFi sectors.
In order to encourage ecosystem growth, Kadena has developed the Kadena Eco platform. It is designed to provide additional support and tools, such as grant programs, incubators, and accelerator facilities to successfully launch or continue developing Kadena-based projects.
KDA is available for trading on the following CEXs and DEXs listed here. The most popular platforms with the highest liquidity are Binance, OKX, Gate.io, and KuCoin. The price of KDA will vary depending on the choice of exchange and overall market conditions. For up-to-date and historic data for KDA market prices, please view the price charts on this page.
