Celestia is building a modular consensus and data network so that anyone can easily deploy their own blockchain with minimal overhead. Celestia’s new modular blockchain architecture is made to supercharge the scale and rate of Web3 innovation in the next decade.
Celestia is the First Modular Blockchain network which enables developers to deploy their own blockchain as easy as deploying a new smart contract.
Celestia allows you to run a validator node, a bridge node or a light client to be able to support the network.
Celestia introduces what is called the Data Availability Layer for enabling efficient scaling and allowing L2 Rollups to do data sampling for transactions they need.
Rollups are a relatively new type of blockchain. What makes them different is that they offload some of their work to a layer 1 like Celestia. The simple version is that rollups publish their transaction data to Celestia, which gets ordered and made available for rollup users to download. As a bonus, rollups receive some of Celestia’s security.
But rollups on Celestia aren’t quite the same as others. They are convenient to launch like layer 2s with the added sovereignty that layer 1s enjoy. Team like to call these blockchains sovereign rollups.
