What are Chia Network's key features and how does it work?
Chia relies on an original consensus system called Proof of Space and Time:
Proof of Space requires validators to demonstrate they have spare hard drive capacity that can be put to use. That surplus storage is then used to keep “plots,” which include cryptographic values that participate in the consensus mechanism. For added network protection, Proof of Space is paired with Proof of Time. Proof-of-Time creates blocks with the same time interval between each newly produced block. It depends on a Verifiable Delay Function to function, with the results checked by “timelords”. Only a single “timelord” must finish the block for it to be validated on the chain.What is noteworthy about Chia Network?
Chia has created its own smart contract language, Chialisp. The language is designed to be powerful, secure, and approachable to work with. In practice, it provides an on-chain setting where application developers can build and run apps that match their specific requirements.
Additionally, the Chia network supports CATs, which stand for Chia Asset Tokens. CATs can be issued and/or exchanged directly on the blockchain. The system allows rules to be bundled with the coins, such as constraints related to minting. CATs can take multiple forms, including stable coins, tokens representing stock issuance, and voting shares.
