Deeper is focused on real decentralization and internet democracy. True decentralization means that no single organization can control every layer of the network, and that the failure of one component won’t undermine the whole system. A fully decentralized public chain, decentralized applications, and decentralized gateways are essential. For instance, the Ethereum Network is still centralized at the gateway layer and relies heavily on Infura’s API services for many major dApps. Infura, in turn, depends on Amazon’s AWS cloud infrastructure. As a result, the Ethereum ecosystem can’t be separated from a centralized network model, and the same weaknesses of centralized designs still apply. The recent Infura downtime highlights this clearly, since it left many Ethereum dApps effectively paralyzed. Deeper Network is working to decentralize the stack end to end-starting with a decentralized public chain in the Deeper Chain and extending to a decentralized gateway in the Deeper Connect-so Deeper can support the next era of the internet.
Deeper Token Use Cases
1. DPN (Decentralized Private Network)
DPN is a P2P decentralized bandwidth sharing network.
DPR use case:
Through sharing their idle bandwidth, users can earn DPR tokens. Standard P2P approaches often struggle with economic incentives, which can cause a real-world mismatch between bandwidth supply and bandwidth demand. In contrast to conventional P2P networks, DPR encourages participants to contribute bandwidth actively, helping the network become more resilient and deliver better performance for everyone.
2. Decentralized DNS Services
DNS is the system responsible for translating IP addresses and enabling Internet lookups. When DNS infrastructure is centralized, the Internet becomes fragile and more vulnerable to censorship and attacks. Decentralized DNS services aim to strengthen the Internet’s openness and prevent a single party from controlling it.
DPR use case:
Users can use DPR to buy decentralized domain names anonymously on the Deeper chain, while retaining full ownership rather than leasing them via ICANN. They can also generate their own cryptographic keys for digital signatures, which essentially removes the need for third-party CAs.
3. Decentralized Cyber Security Services
Every Deeper node functions as a next-generation firewall (NGFW), helping stop network threats through network scanning-such as overflow attacks, injection attacks, denial of service attacks, and others.
DPR use case:
Users pay DPR to obtain Deeper nodes on demand as a home firewall to conceal their IP address and reduce exposure to different network attacks. With Deeper Network infrastructure, users can set up websites without worrying about them being scanned, blocked, or attacked.
DPR can also be used to get OS updates, security database updates, and security subscription services. Meanwhile, a node can earn DPR tokens by contributing to network security, including by detecting malicious activity on the network.
4. Decentralized Gateway Services(dApp store)
Deeper Connect is a decentralized gateway for web3.0. True decentralization means that no single organization can dominate the entire network, and that a single point of failure shouldn’t disrupt the network’s overall operation. Decentralized gateways go alongside decentralized public chains and decentralized applications. For example, the Ethereum Network is still centralized at the gateway layer and relies too much on the API interface services provided by Infura for many major dApps. Infura itself depends on Amazon’s AWS cloud services. This means the Ethereum ecosystem is still tied to centralized network structures and isn’t truly decentralized-leading to the same common drawbacks of centralized designs. The impact is visible in the recent Infura downtime, which resulted in many Ethereum dApps becoming unusable. Deeper, by contrast, delivers true decentralization across all levels: decentralized gateways, decentralized public chains, and decentralized applications.
Deeper Connect users can safely access different decentralized services offered by Deeper Network, and they can also move into various third-party dApp applications-such as decentralized storage services within the Polkadot ecosystem, or DeFi services like exchanges. We can think of the iPhone as an analogy:
1. Deeper’s Deeper Connect hardware is like iPhone hardware
2. Deeper’s built-in DPN and other applications are like the iPhone’s built-in apps such as phone, email, and more
3. Deeper’s dApp store is like the iPhone’s App Store
The key difference is that iPhone provides users with a centralized Internet gateway, while Deeper Connect provides users with a decentralized web3.0 gateway.
DPR use case:
Third-party developers must stake a set amount of DPR tokens in order to host their dApps inside the Deeper ecosystem. At the same time, third-party dApps should be able to accept DPR as a way to pay for services, and Deeper takes a portion of DPR revenue as a service fee.
Other Use Cases for DPR Tokens
Staking: By staking more DPR, nodes can increase the speed of credit accumulation as part of the PoC consensus algorithm, improving mining efficiency.
As gas for smart contracts: Deeper Chain is a Turing complete public chain that supports smart contracts. Deeper Chain also provides the world’s first decentralized credit system based on the PoC consensus algorithm. Building blocks such as a secure sharing economy, DeFi applications, or other credit-related dApps can be built on top of this credit system.
