impactMarket is an open, free, borderless, censorship-resistant, and transparent crowdfinance platform built to tackle poverty. It runs on the Celo protocol, uses cUSD (Celo Dollar) as its primary underlying digital currency, and relies on smart contracts for autonomous operation.

Going beyond UBI, impactMarket is also working toward making access to more financial services available at no cost. With Celo’s network design and the state of its DeFi ecosystem, impactMarket aims to accelerate DeFi adoption and help retention by bringing DeFi options to mobile for the people who need them most. As a result, impactMarket will focus on, but not be limited to:

Deposit assets and route the earned interest (or yield) to support vulnerable communities, while also claiming $PACT rewards. If you don’t want to donate, it’s still possible.Micro Credit: Beneficiaries can use their own $PACT or $CELO as collateral to access credit instantly in cUSD.Virtual Fair, where beneficiaries can trade items (or sell and buy content as NFTs) inside their communities-similar to community-based e-commerce marketplaces.Collective Savings + prize, encouraging beneficiaries to save together within their communities. The greater the savings, the bigger the prizes.Crowd Lending where anyone can provide assets as collateral and delegate credit in $cUSD to targeted beneficiaries, causes, or communities.Additional opportunities, such as beneficiaries’ stories and art as NFTs (which may serve as collateral or help raise funds for a community), access to yield farming, learn-and-earn, paid tasks, and more.

To help impactMarket track, report, and provide transparency and analytics on its impact for stakeholders, the team is building an impact measurement framework. This is shared through various aggregated sources, including on-chain data analysis conducted on the Celo network.

Self-reporting by beneficiaries via ongoing, specific surveys that measure improvements in life quality across multiple areas, including health, education, effects on their children, security, happiness, nutrition, and more.Spot key merchants, intermediaries, and influencers, and attach content to transactions.On-chain data analysis to better understand economic development, activity, growth, and behavior-then cross-reference public information and compare different approaches.Predictive analytics to estimate possible outcomes when launching new communities.

$PACT tokens serve as a global governance medium, enabling participants through decision-making and structured incentive systems. Token holders gain influence over the protocol’s future health, direction, growth, and overall impact.

Voting power delegation: any token holder can delegate voting power to themselves, to someone they trust, or to important protocol participants. Those with the largest delegated voting power can be regarded as impactMarket ambassadors.Communities’ verification and validation: each new UBI community is submitted as a proposal and reviewed by token holders, who vote on whether to approve it. Once verified, communities can request funding directly from the DAO.Manage/Update key parameters, calculation formulas, treasury allocation, and incentives: assets deposited into the DAO treasury can automatically generate interest/yield and periodically support DAO reserve buybacks of $PACT.

Approximately 40% of the total supply is available for participants to claim through impact farming. This incentive mechanism lets anyone earn $PACT rewards in exchange for their cUSD contributions/donations to vulnerable communities.
