A Keeper is the name for an outside individual and/or team that carries out a task. Depending on the work, this may be as straightforward as submitting a transaction, or it may involve substantial off-chain logic. Keep3r network’s focus isn’t to run these tasks directly; instead, it enables contracts to list themselves as jobs and lets keepers indicate that they’re ready to carry out specific jobs. Each keeper is responsible for setting up their own devops and infrastructure and for defining their own criteria, based on which transactions they consider worthwhile.
A Job describes a smart contract that wants an external actor to take an action. The contract expects the action to be executed in good faith, without producing harmful outcomes. To support this, the contract registers as a job, and then keepers are able to execute against the contract.
