Metahero is a blockchain initiative built on Binance Smart Chain (BSC) with the goal of speeding up widespread adoption of blockchain and cryptocurrencies by connecting the digital metaverse to everyday the real-world. Part of that plan involves using NFT smart contracts alongside Ultra-HD Metascanning and modeling technology developed through Wolf Digital World (WDW). This is intended to let participants build detailed, hyper-realistic digital replicas of real items and avatars for use inside the metaverse. Over the long term, Metahero wants to assemble what it calls the world’s largest database of scanned people and objects, with 3D avatars and items designed for multiple everyday applications.
Metahero’s native asset is HERO. HERO is a utility token that provides access to the Metahero ecosystem-such as paying for ultra-HD scans of objects and of users themselves.
Metahero is self-funded and was launched by Robert Gryn, who initially put US$10m into the project. The project launched in July 2021. In parallel, Robert Gryn serves as CEO of Everdome, a company that partners with Metahero. Everdome is also focused on building a metaverse, with a digital universe intended to be filled using the 3D-scanned objects and avatars produced by Metahero.
Although Metahero also touches on NFTs and gaming, it stands out by bringing 3D scanning into the mix. It relies on Metascanning technology from Wolf Digital World to generate HD, highly detailed copies of both people and physical products, which can then be uploaded into the digital world. To support the scanning process, Metahero has started rolling out 3D scanning chambers in selected cities worldwide. Users can spend 200 US Dollars’ worth of Metahero to get scanned themselves, while pricing for scanning other objects depends on the specific item. The first chamber has been set up in Qatar, and there are plans to add 12 more chambers across different areas, focusing on cities with strong interest in technology and gaming. Metahero’s roadmap also calls for reaching 200 3D scanners globally by 2026.
Beyond producing digital assets, the platform is designed to help users earn from their digital avatars and their objects. Users will be able to license avatars and digital objects through the Metahero APP for use across a range of applications, including games or art exhibitions. When others use an avatar or object, users receive payment in HERO, the network’s native currency. For instance, the platform is looking to let artists scan their work into Metahero, resulting in 3D NFTs. Those NFTs may then be shown in art exhibitions and galleries, and the artwork owner could receive royalties each time the piece is used in a gallery.
The HERO token is deflationary, with a mechanism intended to reduce circulating supply by burning between 0-8% of each transaction. HERO was launched on BSC so that transactions remain fast and inexpensive, supporting long-term scalability.
Metahero expects the metascanning use cases to extend into next-generation music videos, VR, gaming environments, and online fashion-such as virtual fitting rooms-along with 3D printing, NFT creation, medicinal applications, education, and more. By providing a digital alternative to everyday activities, Metahero’s broader objective is to encourage mainstream adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
Within the Metahero ecosystem, HERO is the only token that can be used. That includes paying for access to the metascanning chambers and for platform transactions-for example, in games and on the Metahero NFT marketplace. HERO can also function as a passive income tool: 0-2% of each transaction on the platform is redistributed to HERO holders using a Smart Staking mechanism.
