The native token of the protocol, MUTE, acts as a utility that helps enable access to the Mute DAO. The DAO uses a lock-based voting model powered by a soul-bound token, dMUTE (DAO Mute.io Token). A soul-bound token is non-transferable and remains tied to the address that receives it. Under this system, MUTE holders must lock their MUTE for a specified duration (7-364 days). Once locked, they receive dMUTE as a new soul-bound token. After the lock period ends, users can redeem and burn dMUTE to return to their original MUTE balance, keep holding dMUTE, or redeem and set a new time lock to receive a different version.
