Petals is a Web3.0 short-form video creation and social platform powered fully by blockchain, enabling value movement and more equitable distribution across all protocol participants.
Token Usage
The token acts as the in-between component of the Petals ecosystem. Users in different roles receive tokens according to their actions.
For creators, anyone can upload short videos capturing everyday life, happiness, and sadness. Creators hold the private key, which corresponds to full ownership. Changing permissions, publishing content, following other creators, and engaging with other content require only that users keep their private keys-without interference from any centralized party. In this distributed setup, tokens serve as rewards for all creators.
For algorithm providers, each provider can access creators’ content on an equal basis. This design prevents any single provider from monopolizing or controlling the content. At any moment, users can switch to different algorithm providers, which in turn decide the ad flow and content preferences. The more an algorithm is utilized, the more tokens algorithm providers earn.
For distributed nodes, participants host short videos, keep connections between Petals nodes, and maintain reverse indexes of content interactions. They also store lasting data such as transactions and contributions, and use a transparent algorithm to tag creators and content-supporting a recommendation system that users can control, among other functions. Naturally, node operators can also earn rewards for their own work.
