About Polkastarter

Polkastarter is an IDO-focused protocol that lets cryptocurrency projects raise capital on the platform, along with other capabilities. It was built to address concerns that have come with the growing popularity of DEXs and IDOs, such as extreme volatility and

Polkastarter is designed to connect to the Polkadot ecosystem, with an aim to take advantage of its scalability and apply its features. This includes cross-chain swaps and high throughput, while also linking to other blockchains to source liquidity. Right now, Polkastarter operates on Ethereum, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain.

POLS is the platform’s native token. Platform users can hold or use POLS to join the IDOs hosted on Polkastarter.

What are Polkastarter’s key features and how does it work?

Projects can fundraise through Polkastarter by creating Fixed Swap Pools. These pools use a set token purchase rate-so the token price stays the same during the sale period until the full initial supply is distributed. Fixed Swap Pools are structured differently from fundraising formats such as ICOs, IEOs, and IDOs.

A cryptocurrency project can launch a Fixed Swap Pool on Polkastarter at a predetermined price. This contrasts with an AMM liquidity pool, where pricing moves with token demand. With Fixed Swap Pools, projects can manage token distribution more closely, help limit potential token dumping by private investors, and lower token offering costs.

The platform also includes additional IDO settings, giving projects more flexibility in how they run their fundraising. For example, it can support maximum investment limits per user or set caps on how many investors can participate in the pool.

IDO buyers can enter platform IDOs using a lottery-style process. Users can improve their odds of getting an IDO allocation by using POLS power-an approach Polkastarter uses to encourage holding POLS, staking POLS, and providing liquidity.

What is noteworthy about Polkastarter?

Compared with other fundraising platforms, Polkastarter stands out for the ability to create not only fixed swap pools but also cross-chain swaps supported by Polkadot. This setup targets higher throughput for transactions that are faster and cheaper, while still maintaining connections to other blockchains for liquidity, including Ethereum.

What can Polkastarter be used for?

As mentioned, Polkastarter primarily serves as a fundraising venue for new and emerging cryptocurrency projects. Still, the protocol’s underlying technology can be applied in other contexts.

Possible alternative use cases include:

Closed OTC deals secured with password protection;Discounted token sales using whitelisted addresses;Token pools that can feature dutch and sealed-bid auctions;Crowdfunding.
