About Polkastarter

The Polkastarter protocol is an IDO platform that allows cryptocurrency projects to use the platform as a way to raise funds, amongst other functions. It was created with the intention of solving some of the issues rising popularity of DEXs and IDOs created, i.e. extreme volatility and

Polkastarter is planned to be integrated into the Polkadot ecosystem and hopes to make use of its high levels of scalability and leverage its functionalities. This includes cross-chain swaps, and high throughput, whilst also being connected to other blockchains for liquidity. At present, Polkastarter is running on Ethereum, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain.

POLS is the platform’s native currency and can be used by platform users to participate in IDOs held on the platform.

What are Polkastarter’s key features and how does it work?

Cryptocurrency projects are able to raise funds via the Polkastarter platform by setting up Fixed Swap Pools. These are pools based on a fixed purchase rate for tokens, the price of a token will be sustained throughout the sale period until the entire initial supply is sold. These swap pools function differently from other fundraising mechanisms such as ICOs, IEOs, and IDOs.

A cryptocurrency project can list on Polkastarter Fixed Swap Pool at a fixed price. This differs from an AMM liquidity pool, where the rate changes as the demand for a token changes. The Fixed Swap Pool method means that projects can have more control over token distribution, prevent potential token dumps from private investors and reduce token offering costs.

The platform also offers extra parameters for IDOs so that projects have more control over their fundraising efforts. This includes maximum investments per user or restrictions on the number of investors allowed in the pool.

IDO participants can take part in IDOs on the platform by entering a lottery-type mechanism. Participants can increase their chances of winning an IDO slot by leveraging POLS power, a concept the platform uses in order to incentivize holding POLS, staking POLS, and providing liquidity.

What is noteworthy about Polkastarter?

Polkastarter is particularly noteworthy when compared with other fundraising platforms. This is due to the possibility of making not only fixed swap pools but also cross-chain swaps, all powered by Polkadot. This provides higher throughput for faster and cheaper transactions, whilst still being connected to other blockchains for liquidity, such as Ethereum.

What can Polkastarter be used for?

As mentioned, Polkastarter’s primary function is as a fundraising platform for new and emerging cryptocurrency projects. However, the protocol’s technology can also be applied elsewhere.

Other use cases include:

Closed OTC deals with password protection;Discounted sales with whitelisted addresses;Token pools will include dutch and sealed-bid auctions;Crowdfunding.
