Roles and Definitions

Application

Saito applications run directly in your browser or as standalone software. If you have visited saito.io, your browser became part of the Saito network. These applications can include wallets or any data-driven program.

Application Server

Application Servers deliver applications and provide any website with data. They provide custom JavaScript for in-browser applications, and they can also supply APIs to blockchains.

Block Producer

Block producers validate transactions, group them into blocks, and broadcast them to the network. They also generate a puzzle (a golden ticket) that is used to pay routing nodes for their contribution.

Security Node

Security nodes compete to solve the puzzles issued by Block Producers. The successful node receives a reward and, through solving, produces a random value to compensate the routing network in a provably fair way.

Routing Node

Routing nodes make up the network’s core, handling the movement of transactions from users to block producers.
