Smooth Love Potion (SLP) is a utility ERC-20 standard gaming token used in the NFT game Axie Infinity, a popular Pokémon-inspired virtual pet gaming world available to play on Android phones, iPhones, and PCs. In Axie Infinity, players build virtual kingdoms for their virtual pets.

 Axie Infinity and the SLP token were co-founded by current CEO Trung Nguyen in 2018. A lot of blockchain technology has focused on financial services. Axie Infinity does not sell the SLP gaming token directly to players. Instead, SLP can be earned through various modes of gameplay. The main source of SLP rewards is Arena Battles where players compete against other players (PvP) to win SLP. SLP can also be earned through completing daily check-ins and quests. However, before earning SLP this way, a player needs to obtain their Axies, which can be done via the marketplace.

All assets and data within the game can be accessed by third parties, which allows developers to build tools and experiences to further enhance the Axie Infinity metaverse.

What can Smooth Love Potion be used for?

SLP can be used in the Axie Infinity Universe to breed new digital pets or Axies. To avoid hyperinflation, Axies can be bred up to 7 times with each time requiring an increased amount of SLP. The price of breeding an Axie also depends on the specific breed a player wants to breed, depending on the breed count of a player’s pre-existing Axies (the parent Axies). If a parent has a high breed count, more SLP is needed to breed. After an Axie is bred, the SLP tokens used are burnt. All Axies are designed as NFTs meaning they are unique and original digital objects. Pets (Axies) can then be sold on the Axie Infinity marketplace as NFTs to other players.

SLP can also be bought, sold, and traded on crypto exchanges. Earning SLP via the game can take a considerable amount of time, meaning breeding Axies also takes time. Buying SLP on exchanges offers players the means to overcome this and get ahead in the game.
