SORA, launched in 2019, is a decentralized blockchain protocol designed to live within the Polkadot ecosystem and serve as a foundation for building applications. For instance, developers can use SORA tooling to create solutions for atomic swaps and cross-chain bridges. The project was created on the idea that cryptoeconomic systems should follow a rational economic structure without relying on human-driven adjustments. To support this, SORA introduced its SORA Token Bonding Curve, which sets the price for its SORA utility token. The SORA ecosystem is connected to the Polkadot relay chain as well as its associated parachains.
More specifically, SORA’s economic setup involves three tokens: XOR, VAL, and PSWAP. XOR acts as the SORA network’s utility token. VAL serves as a reward for validators, whose validator-run nodes help secure the network. PSWAP is used to reward liquidity providers using Polkaswap.
As part of its approach, SORA relies on a token bonding curve to handle the issuance and supply behavior of XOR. By using algorithms, it reduces the need for human involvement. In practice, a smart contract is responsible for token input and produces outputs using two linear functions: the Puy-Price Function and the Sell-Price Function. Overall, it behaves like a decentralized bank that adjusts the XOR price based on supply and demand.
The SORA app is a key part of the ecosystem. It supports Android and iOS, letting users manage their SORA accounts, keep SORA network tokens inside the wallet, and swap or pool tokens through its Polkaswap integration.
Control of the SORA network is handled by the SORA Parliament. Users must hold XOR to participate.
SORA can support a variety of application types. One notable dApp is Polkswap. This liquidity aggregator AMM DEX is non-custodial and operated by the SORA community. In practical terms, Polkaswap enables trades with low transaction fees and quick execution. It supports swaps across Ethereum, Polkadot, Kusama, and other major blockchain networks.
XOR can be traded on the CEXs and DEXs shown below. Some of the most widely used platforms with the highest liquidity include MEXC Global, Gate.io, and KuCoin. XOR’s price can differ based on the exchange you choose and the broader market conditions. For current and historical XOR market pricing, check the price charts on this page.
