Virtue Poker combines blockchain capabilities with peer-to-peer networking and strong cryptography to create a secure, trustworthy setting for online poker.

Peer-to-Peer shuffling protects the deck

One of the most common concerns in online poker is, “Is it safe? How can I be sure the deck hasn’t been tampered with?”Virtue Poker spreads the shuffling task across every participant at the table, as illustrated in the diagram below. Each player’s app shuffles the deck and adds its own encryption layer. After the deck is fully shuffled and encrypted, the hand is distributed, and players share encryption keys so everyone can verify their hands. Because there is no single server holding the entire unencrypted deck, an attacker would need to break encryption on each player device independently.

Your wallet and the Sidechain protect your funds

In most online poker setups, you fund your account by depositing money to the platform for custody. If the operator can be trusted, that approach may be acceptable, but online poker services have not always shown reliable trustworthiness.With Virtue Poker, your funds remain protected. Rather than depositing, you send ETH or tokens directly from your wallet to the Virtue Poker sidechain. Funds are held in the sidechain and governed by a smart contract. When you win, you withdraw the ETH or tokens back to your wallet-so you stay in control.

Virtue Player Points (VPP) Tokens

Virtue Poker ran a token sale in May 2018, selling 100 million tokens at a rate of 4,000 VPPs = 1 ETH. These VPP tokens serve three purposes within the Virtue Poker network:

Stake and Earn Fees. The Virtue Poker platform uses what it calls Justices as table referees and validators. Players who hold enough VPPs can apply to stake VPPs as a Justice to receive fees.Play in VPP-denominated games. The Virtue Poker system offers games that use both VPPs and ETH as denominations.Play in special tournaments. Virtue Poker plans to run special tournaments exclusively for Virtue Poker token holders.

Virtue Poker tokens are not currently listed on exchanges, and they remain locked (non-tradable) until the service is launched on the Ethereum mainnet.
