Wicrypt is a decentralized platform for sharing and monetizing mobile internet access. As a virtual Internet Service Provider, Wicrypt lets people manage their own mobile internet data. It is both ISP agnostic and location agnostic. The Wicrypt protocol supports end-to-end encryption for user data, charges users based on the data they consume, and rewards (credits) the host. It also lays the groundwork for a decentralized storage network that uses routers as micro nodes.
The Wicrypt network is made up of decentralized routers (micro nodes) and connected clients, including mobile phones, laptops, PCs, Smart TVs, Smart Watches, and IoTs. These routers run on custom Wicrypt firmware. There is no central authority overseeing the network. Any user or host can obtain a supported router (micro node) and install the wicrypt firmware. Using this equipment, the user can set up a WiFi area within the device’s coverage, and anyone with a WiFi-capable device can join to access the internet. The wicrypt firmware enhances these routers (micro nodes) by expanding their storage capacity, enabling them to participate as storage nodes in the decentralized storage network supported by Filecoin.
