0x Protocol is a peer-to-peer trading system designed for Ethereum-based tokens. Built by 0x Labs, it lets developers use exchange functionality without having to create the underlying infrastructure themselves. A major objective of 0x Protocol is to broaden access to non-traditional asset categories and the markets around them. This includes supporting the development of markets for virtually any asset without depending on financial intermediaries-so users can tokenize and assign value to different types of holdings. These assets may range from real-world property or other physical items to tokenized representations of stocks, bonds, or other cryptocurrency.
Key advantages of 0x Protocol include stronger security, smart contracts that have been audited, and development tools tailored to the 0x ecosystem, along with an API that helps with liquidity access. In this way, 0x supplies the building blocks for decentralized exchanges that sit on top of the network and utilize these capabilities.
ZRX is Ox’s native token and it’s used for governance and staking.
0x Protocol is used by two primary groups: Makers and Takers. Makers provide liquidity to the order book. They submit orders into a 0x market and wait for those orders to be fulfilled. Takers, meanwhile, submit orders that can be matched right away against existing orders. Relayers also participate by helping 0x order books interact with transactions so that trades can be settled on-chain.
ZRX supports governance. Token holders can vote on proposals put forward by members of the 0x community, which may cover changes to smart contract parameters. Each ZRX token represents one vote, and the voting process takes place off-chain. Additionally, ZRX is used for staking across the network. Stakers contribute to the network by supplying liquidity and receive a share of liquidity rewards sourced from the transaction fees charged on trades.
You can trade ZRX on the CEXs and DEXs listed here. Platforms with the most interest and liquidity include Binance, AscendEX, OKX, and CoinBase Pro. ZRX pricing will differ based on the exchange you choose and broader market conditions. For current and historical ZRX price information, consult the price charts on this page.
