Axie Infinity is a gaming ecosystem inspired by Pokémon that works on Android phones, iPhones, and PC. Axie’s creators designed it as an enjoyable, learning-focused introduction to blockchain and NFT technology. 

On the platform, participants can make money by demonstrating skill in gameplay and contributing in different ways to the broader ecosystem. The experience centers on battling, collecting, raising, and constructing a land-based kingdom for their NFT pets.

Axie uses Blockchain-based economic design to compensate users for their ecosystem contributions, following a “play to earn” approach. In particular, Axie has gained attention in developing countries where people have sought alternative income sources after the Covid pandemic.

What are AXS key features and how does it work?

When you play, you bring a squad of three creatures called Axies. Each Axie comes with distinct abilities and is used to fight against computer-controlled rivals or other players.

In Axie Infinity, Axies are NFTs. That means every Axie created through the game’s breeding system becomes a one-of-a-kind digital item, minted as an NFT. Players’ art and related data are accessible to third parties, enabling community developers to create their own tools and build new experiences in the wider universe.

Players can earn in multiple ways:

The platform’s native token is the Axie Infinity Shard (AXS). This ERC-20 token supports governance and staking, and also powers in-game functions. For instance, users can earn $AXS by playing games across the Axie Infinity Universe and by participating in initiatives tied to user-generated content.
