About Oxygen

Oxygen is a prime brokerage service built on DeFi pools. It runs on the Solana blockchain, and its on-chain operation is supported by Serum infrastructure. The project’s goal is to broaden borrow-lending access by bringing prime brokerage capabilities into the blockchain ecosystem. At the heart of the concept is linking major market participants-such as hedge funds, pension funds, asset managers, liquidity providers, and more-to help enhance market efficiency and improve price discovery.

It also aims to make common financial services, which are frequently delivered by investment banks, more available to everyone through blockchain technology. Product examples include strategies for earning yield, borrowing assets, trading directly from pools, and using leverage trades against portfolios.

The platform supports peer-to-peer transactions and is positioned as fully decentralized, fully non-custodial, and fully on-chain. OXY is Oxygen’s native currency that powers the protocol. OXY is also used for governance, and token holders receive reduced fees. All trading fees are reinvested back into the ecosystem.

What are Oxygen’s key features and how does it work?

Oxygen is designed to manage capital in a more streamlined way. It does this through three main mechanisms. First, it enables users to apply the same collateral for multiple purposes. Participants can lend assets to generate yield while simultaneously borrowing other assets using that collateral.

Second, the protocol supports cross-collateralization. Users can pool the collateral across their overall portfolio to borrow additional assets. This structure is intended to reduce margin calls and lower the likelihood of portfolio liquidation.

Third, Oxygen relies on market-driven pricing. Instead of using fixed market-style formulas that require manual updates, the platform is built around an order-book approach.

Central to Oxygen Prime Brokerage is the ability to set up pools that include several assets. Users can build custom pools with selected assets, and those assets can be lent out or borrowed. Interest is determined by the portfolio level rather than being tied to each individual asset. The Oxygen Prime Brokerage smart contract is written in RUST and is upgradeable over time.

Interaction with the platform is available through three access routes. The first is a DeFi wallet for Oxygen, allowing users to trade directly, earn yield, borrow assets, vote, and stake. Users can also use the Oxygen API, or they can integrate through smart contracts on the Solana Network.
