About Rocket Pool ETH

Rocket Pool ETH (rETH) token comprises a vital part of the Rock Pool decentralized Ethereum Staking Protocol. The project was founded in 2016 as a Proof-of-Stake Protocol that is owned by the community, is trustless, and can be used with Ethereum 2.0 staking. The protocol has two target audiences: those who take part in tokenized staking using rETH, and those that want higher ROI when staking ETH and operating a node. It hopes to reduce the entry barriers required for running Ethereum nodes, including reducing the 32 ETH required for solo staking, and the technical challenges of operating nodes. As such, the protocol allows almost any crypto user to take part in ETH staking. The rETH token is distributed to Rocket Pool Protocol stakers and represents the amount of ETH staked by users of the platform.

What are Rocket Pool ETH’s key features and how does it work?

In order to use the platform, users must stake ETH. Users can stake as little as 0.01 ETH. In return, participants receive an equivalent amount rETH. rETH is pegged 1:1 to the value of ETH. The value of rETH distributed to stakers is calculated with the following ratio: rETH:ETH ratio = (total ETH staked + Beacon Chain rewards) / (total ETH staked). Staking rewards will automatically begin accumulating as soon as rETH is held. Rewards are determined by the total amount staked by the user, as well as the overall performance of the Rocket Pool protocol.

rETH can be traded on the Rocket Pool platform in return for ETH plus the value of any rewards accrued. It is worth noting that simply holding the rETH token in a compatible wallet effectively gives the holder staker status and rewards will be accumulated automatically. Participants can use their collateral to capitalize on the DeFi opportunities available to ETH holders.

Thanks to the protocol’s architecture, rETH value will increase over time. This is due to the fact that it is protected from node slashing and downtime by Rocket Pool’s insurance mechanisms. For example, node operators must stake RPL on their nodes which serve as collateral for any potential penalties incurred, thus incentivizing proper behavior.

What can rETH be used for?

The rETH token has the following use cases:

Simply holding and eventually returning to the Rocket Pool;Use among DeFi applications;Trade, lend, and use as collateral;Used in the same way as any other ERC20 token.

Where can you buy rETH?
